On this date, six stamps were issued, commemorating the New
Zealand 'Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King' production,
that was scheduled to premier on 1 December 2003. These six
stamp designs were offered in gummed and self adhesive forms, as
well as booklets, FDCs, miniature sheets, maximum cards and
Presentation Pack. Cover art: Eowyn and the horsemen of Rohan and Mordor.
40c - Legolas - The bow of Legolas will be at Aragorn's side - to whatever end.
80c - Frodo - The fate of all Middle-earth rests with the Hobbit Frodo Baggins.
90c - Merry and Pippin - Pippin relies upon the sharper eyes and wit of his friend Merry to guide his path.
$1.30 - Aragorn - Aragorn is fated to claim the long empty throne of Gondor, should he prove worthy.
$1.50 - Gandalf the White - Gandalf counsels the leaders to stand firm in the face of the darkness.
$2.00 - Gollum - Gollum fights internally to betray Frodo and take back that which he craves.
