Cast: Cliff Curtis, Christopher Hobbs, John Leigh, Miriama Smith, Kelly Johnson.
Screenplay: Geoff Murphy based on material from the book "The Paradise Conspiracy" by Ian Wishart; Director of Photography: Rewa Harre; Original Music: John Charles, Jonathan Crayford; Editing: Mike Horton; Special Effects: Jason Durey; Production Design: Shayne Radford; Visual Effects Supervisor: Dean Lyon; Producer: Don Reynolds, Merata Mita, Geoff Dixon, Geoff Murphy; Director: Geoff Murphy.

Don't try to follow the storyline too carefully and don't try to make sense of everything in this "thriller". There have been major complaints about its style, but that's Geoff Murphy - one has to relax with his style and just take what comes. The John Charles soundtrack is excellent (no soundtrack CD, so far), adding the wonderful talents of Jonathan Crayford and the legendary George Coleman. My major complaint was the inconsistant sound level of the spoken dialogue. Having not viewed this film in a theatre, perhaps the problem is with the disc, but there is a problem. For those familiar with the real events that this film is based upon; try to forget what you know about the reality, in order to obtain maximum enjoyment from this film. Humour abounds amongst the chaos and between the music and the humour, there is enough to let me recommend it for a view.

IMDB User Comments

In his new movie, SPOOKED, Geoff Murphy takes an intriguing series of events from 1992 New Zealand as his starting point and, making a daring imaginative jump, spins it to where all good 21st century conspiracies lead - Osama Bin Laden and the CIA.
