04 December 2001 - Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the
Ring

On this date, six stamps were issued, commemorating the New
Zealand 'Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring' production,
that was scheduled to premier on 19 December 2001. These six
stamp designs were offered in gummed and self adhesive forms, as
well as booklets, FDCs, miniature sheets, maximum cards and
Presentation Pack. Unless stocks are exhausted earlier, these
items will remain on sale until 03 December 2002; when another
series: 'Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers', will be issued.
40c - Gandalf & Saruman - Gandalf the Grey (Sir Ian McKellen)
informs Saruman the White (Christopher Lee) that the unthinkable
has happened.
80c - Galadriel - (Cate Blanchett), the mysterious Lady of the
Wood, and queen of the Elves.
90c - Sam & Frodo - Frodo Baggins,(Elijah Wood) accompanied by
his friend, Sam Gamgee (Sean Austin), pause at the Prancing Pony
Inn.
$1.30 - The Guardian of Rivendell - Frodo is brought back from
the brink of death at Rivendell.
$1.50 - Strider - Aragorn, going by the name of Strider (Viggo
Mortensen), is self-reliant and a little reclusive.
$2.00 - Boromir - Boromir, eldest son of Denethor of Gondor (Sean
Bean), calls for aid.
