In 1965 rock music dominated the world's popular music scene, but not on New Zealand radio. Richard Davis, a 23 year-old journalist, is determined to break the government's monopoly on broadcasting and bring rock to New Zealand's younger generation. As time and money run out, Richard's marriage starts to fall apart, presenting him with the choice of fighting for freedom of speech or holding on to the woman he loves. Based on a true story, this "David vs. Goliath' struggle unified Kiwi youth. Some excellent special effects but, I felt that English subtitles would have been very helpful and the menu music is much louder than the feature, but it is still a worthwhile view and nice samples of 1960's rock sounds. The July 2021 US DVD and Blu-ray release does have optional English subtitles.
